The 2023 University of Alabama High School Choral Festival will take place at the University of Alabama School of Music on Monday, October 16 from 8:30am-5:30pm. Each high school director is encouraged to bring one SATB choral ensemble of any size to participate. This is an experience for your whole choir! Your singers will gain experience singing in either the 9th-10th grade or the 11th-12th grade mass choir and select choirs will receive a 20-minute individual choral workshop on the Moody Concert Hall stage with UA choral faculty.
The UA High School Choral Festival is for both singers and their directors. Students will participate in mass choir rehearsals with their peers, while also having the opportunity to tour the campus, hear campus ensemble performances, and engage in conversations with current university choir members. High school seniors may audition individually for UA music scholarships if interested. Educators will be served breakfast provided upon arrival, and will have the opportunity to observe rehearsals, engage in a masterclass with their choir, and participate in professional development workshops as available throughout the day.
Registration and Fees
Registration for the 2023 event will be $12.00 per singer. Directors attend for free. Registration fees cover repertoire, UA College of Music swag, lunch, and more. Please register your choir by Thursday, September 28 at 5:00pm.
UA Early Admission Auditions
High school seniors may audition for UA Early Admission as a music major by participating in an on-campus audition for the voice faculty during the Choral Festival. Those auditioning must demonstrate genuine interest in pursuing vocal performance, vocal music education, or a BA in Music at the University of Alabama. Repertoire
Mass choir repertoire will be provided on site.
Those participating in an individual choir masterclass should prepare 10 minutes of repertoire to perform on the Moody Concert Hall stage.
