Master of Music in Choral Conducting

The MM in Choral Conducting is the ultimate professional development experience for those with a number of years working in the choral field. Master’s degree students refine conducting gesture, increase knowledge of choral literature, develop academic research skills, and hone leadership capabilities.

 

UA offers conducting students generous podium time with university choral ensembles, innovative and individualized instruction, and extended opportunities to grow as a conductor-educator.

At the University of Alabama School of Music, MM in Choral Conducting students will receive a holistic education in conducting performance and scholarship that encourages skill development to be competitive in future endeavors. Students engage with the choral community within and outside of the university, and build confidence as conductors, educators, musicians, and scholars.

Admissions Information

Candidates for the Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Alabama School of Music must possess and demonstrate a gift of musical leadership based upon experience with choral ensembles and a solid foundation of training. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in music, and practical experience in choral conducting through church, school, or community ensembles is preferred.
